Night Agent Season 3: Peter Sutherland’s Toughest Mission Yet

Published on February 5, 2026 by Steven James

It was 2023 and a rainy Tuesday night, and I was sitting in a cramped London flat scrolling through Netflix. I encountered a show about a bloke in a basement, waiting for the phone to ring. I didn’t expect much. But then that phone rang and suddenly I was three episodes deep at 2 AM. That’s what the magic of The Night Agent is. It’s not yet another spy drama; it’s a relentless, pulse-pounding addiction. Now, we’re on the brink of a new cliff. Night Agent Season 3 is finally making its way to our television screens from Thursday, February 19th, 2026. If you’re anything like me, you probably spent the past year wondering whether Peter Sutherland can ever catch a break. Spoiler alert: he can’t. But that’s why we love it. This season has the potential to be a huge departure from what we’ve seen before and transition out of the halls of D.C. and into the chaotic streets of Istanbul.

The New Global Playground

The first thing you’ll notice about Night Agent Season 3 is the sheer scale of it. Peter is now no longer simply a low-level guy; he’s a full-field operative. The story gets off to a rollicking start. A young treasury agent is accused of assassinating his boss and then finding refuge in Turkey with a hard drive full of sensitive government information. Peter is the one sent to bring him back. But the assignment is no “snatch and grab” mission. I’ve watched the “lone wolf” trope a thousand times in my years of spy dramas, but Gabriel Basso brings a grounded physical desperation to the role that makes it feel fresh.  He’ll be traversing more than the Grand Bazaar. The action reportedly spans Mexico City, Washington, New York and even the Dominican Republic. It’s like Netflix has finally given the series the “James Bond” budget it always should have had.

A Bittersweet Goodbye to Rose

Look, we have to address the elephant in the room. Rose Larkin won’t return for Season 3. The truth is, it feels kind of like a gut punch. Basso and Luciane Buchanan had such natural, electric chemistry that it becomes difficult to imagine the show without her.  But narratively, I see it. Peter told Rose at the end of Season 2 to not come looking for him. He’s a Night Agent now. His life is a target. Rose going to California to jump-start her tech career is believable. It’s a well-executed break, even if it leaves us fans feeling a little pang of loss.  Although the writers have indicated that it’s not a permanent departure, Peter finds himself completely alone during this 10-episode run. And now he’s more vulnerable than ever because that emotional anchor is gone.

Fresh Faces and High Stakes

While we’re losing Rose, the cast list for Night Agent Season 3 is getting some serious heavy hitters. I was chuffed to see Jennifer Morrison (of Once Upon a Time fame) joining as the First Lady. Adding a character like that suggests the conspiracy goes right back to the top of the food chain. The most intriguing addition for me is Stephen Moyer. Most of us remember him as the brooding Bill Compton from True Blood, but here he’s playing a high-level hitman. The thought of Peter Sutherland going toe-to-toe with a professional assassin of that calibre is enough to make anyone excited.  We’ve also got Genesis Rodriguez playing a relentless reporter. In a world of secret agents, a journalist digging for the truth is usually the most dangerous person in the room.

The Double Agent Dilemma

Here’s the thing that’s really keeping me up at night. Peter is caught in a tug-of-war. On one side, you’ve got President Hagan. On the other, the shadowy, freelance information broker Jacob Monroe. Peter has been tasked by his handler, Catherine Weaver (the brilliant Amanda Warren), to find out exactly what the relationship between these two powerful men is. This is a classic ‘who’s really in charge’ situation.  Peter has to straddle both worlds, working as a double agent while trying not to be caught in the crossfire. It’s a messy, uncomfortable situation for a guy who deep down really just wants to do the right thing. It’s that moral grey area that makes Night Agent Season 3 feel a bit more grown up than the first two chapters.

Future Leaks: Season 4 is Already Calling

The crazy part? We haven’t even watched Season 3 yet, and the news is already buzzing about Season 4. While Netflix is playing coy with an official announcement, the paperwork doesn’t lie. Filming records in California show that a fourth season has already secured a massive $31.6 million tax credit. The production is reportedly moving from New York and Vancouver to Los Angeles for the fourth run. This tells us two things.

  • One: Netflix knows they have a massive hit on their hands.
  • Two: the story is going to keep expanding.

Whether Peter is chasing ghosts in the Hollywood Hills or uncovering a West Coast conspiracy, the future of the franchise looks rock solid.

Is It Still the Show We Love?

Any time a show moves through many locations and trades out half its cast, you take the chance of losing the “soul” of that show. But based on everything I’ve seen to date, creator Shawn Ryan seems to know exactly what he’s doing. He’s called the show, for which fans have been waiting eagerly, an “adrenaline-fuelled thrill ride” of a season, and if the trailers are any indication, he’s not wrong.  There’s a moment in the teaser where Peter’s battling on top of a moving van during a high-speed chase. It’s messy, it’s chaotic, and it is oh so very The Night Agent. It’s that “Reacher-lite” energy that makes it so bingeable. It doesn’t try to be Succession; it just wants to be the best action show on telly.
